The Recommendations
The report makes ten recommendations to civil society organizations, governments and UNHCR to support the LGBTQI+ community in Kakuma Refugee Camp. The recommendations aim to give civil society organizations and governments clear direction on how they can make the camp safer for LGBTQI+ people while at the same time emphasizing to governments and the UNHCR that resettlement to safer countries is essential.

The Study
ORAM and Rainbow Railroad conducted in-depth research into the conditions facing LGBTQI+ asylum seekers and refugees in Kakuma Refugee Camp in northern Kenya. The report provides much needed and previously lacking information on LGBTQI+ asylum seekers and refugees living in the camp - who they are, their experiences, the services they receive, the challenges they face and the opportunities they envision.
