Attacks against asylum seekers have risen in some countries in Europe. In Greece, there have been reports of fighting between ethnic groups, which have made women refugees feel increasingly unsafe. There has also been an increase in anti-refugee rhetoric by politicians, which is thought to play a part in violent outbreaks against refugees. Players in Europe must do their part to ensure the safety of asylum seekers, especially those who are exceptionally vulnerable. Refugee professionals on all levels must undergo sensitivity and identification training to ensure the safety of vulnerable refugees.
