Farewell from the ORAM Team

As our dear friends and colleagues already know, Neil Grungras has recently stepped down as ORAM’s Executive Director. We would like to express our deep gratitude for everything he has achieved since founding ORAM just over a decade ago. Under his visionary leadership, ORAM has become a pioneer in the field of queer asylum and migration.

Despite the challenging times ahead, our newly established office in Berlin is more committed than ever to fighting for the protection of vulnerable LGBT asylum seekers and refugees around the world. 🏳️‍🌈

Notice of Neil Grungras’ Departure

From the Chairwoman, Rochelle Fortier Nwadibia

It is with sadness and gratitude that I announce Neil Grungras’ departure as Executive Director of ORAM, effective March 31, 2019.

Since founding ORAM in 2008, Neil has played a crucial role in establishing and developing the first and only international organization dedicated to those who flee persecution based on their sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression. A career-long veteran of international refugee affairs, Neil not only galvanized the international community to protect these often-forgotten refugees; he developed a dozen publications and working tools as he trained thousands of refugee professionals worldwide in extending that protection.

We will miss Neil’s vision and leadership, and we wish him the best of luck as he continues his work as an independent consultant imparting his expertise to key stakeholders in our field.

Over the next few months, we will be conducting a search for a new Executive Director. The ORAM Board warmly invites your input and your assistance disseminating this posting to qualified candidates. It is our priority to find the best individual to lead ORAM while maintaining the extraordinarily effective organization ORAM has been and will continue to be.

In gratitude,

Rochelle Fortier Nwadibia
